3) Mezzanine Video Files

A high-quality mezzanine file is required. For each episode/movie, we need one mezzanine file either in HD (preferred) or SD. These are the specifications for these files. Contact us if you have any questions about delivering a file in a similar format or specification that you'd like us to review. Without approval, only files that match this minimum specification will be accepted.
HD (High Definition) Mezzanines
Please keep the following in mind when preparing your files:
HD (High Definition) Mezzanines
- Container: MP4
- Profile: High
- Level: 4.1
- Preferred bit rate: 50 Mbps
- Minimum bit rate: 30 Mbps
- HD must be at least 1280 pixels wide
- Pixel aspect ratio: square (1.0)
- Audio: Sample Rate 48kHz @ 320Kbps
- Container: MP4
- Profile: High
- Level: 4.1
- Preferred bit rate: 30 Mbps
- Minimum bit rate: 20 Mbps
- SD must be at least 640 pixels wide
- Pixel aspect ratio: square (1.0)
- Audio: Sample Rate 48kHz @ 320Kbps
Please keep the following in mind when preparing your files:
- No Extraneous Content - Commercial Blacks, Color Bars, SMPTE Leader, etc
- No YouTube “cards” at end of content
- No requests to “like and subscribe” in the audio
- No contests or giveaways in the video file
- No in-video advertising or promotion
- No burned-in captions or subtitles. Sidecar files only.
- Apple ProRes encoded files are not suitable as a deliverable Mezzanine file. ProRes is a line of intermediate codecs, which means they are intended for use during video editing and not delivery. They are disproportionately large files which makes them difficult to deliver compared to the Mezzanine formats listed above.
